Safer Beginnings

The Safer Beginnings program is dedicated to enhancing maternity outcomes and postpartum safety for 70,950 women, including 13,350 from ethnic minority communities across England, Wales, and Scotland, by 2023. This initiative focuses on developing specialized information, services, and interventions that empower women to advocate for their own safety in relation to obstetric and domestic abuse, as well as FGM/FGC.

ASAM was one of 18 delivery partners involved in this program and contributed by creating content for the Baby Buddy app. The team utilized their expertise to provide crucial information on obstetric and domestic abuse and violence. Their participation included regular virtual meetings with fellow delivery partners. Additionally, ASAM played a role in the Safer Beginnings conference in Manchester, with Director Sundas serving as a Panel Host.
